Methodology

What the matcher checks, and what it refuses to claim.

  • Red flags override ranking. Medical flags, serious AMS history, weak fitness, insufficient days, and no altitude history can suppress otherwise attractive peaks.
  • Profiles are practical, not scientific. The output is a guide-style intake profile. It does not claim medical clearance or summit prediction.
  • The recommendation set is broader now. It covers 10 Indian candidates and 3 Nepal comparisons, so the tool can separate low-technical fits from training-dependent objectives.
  • Source confidence is visible. IMF-listed rows, Nepal Himal Peak Profile entries, TVT peak data, and operator-derived Ladakh entries are marked differently in the card source notes.
  • Nepal entries are comparison guidance. Mera, Island, and Lobuche are included because first-6000m researchers compare them often. Verify operator quotes, permit assumptions, insurance, and itinerary details before booking.
FAQ

First 6000m peak questions

Should I choose a 6000m peak before checking readiness?

No. The safer order is readiness first, peak second. Highest altitude slept, prior AMS, fitness, technical exposure, available days, and operator quality can change the right peak.

Does this tool predict summit success?

No. It is decision support, not a summit predictor, medical clearance, or replacement for guide judgment. It avoids percentage readiness scores and invented summit rates.

Which peaks are covered?

The matcher uses 13 first-6000m research peaks: Dzo Jongo East, UT Kangri, Kang Yatse II, Yunam Peak, Mentok Kangri II, Mentok Kangri I, Deo Tibba, CB-14, CB-13, Black Peak, Mera Peak, Island Peak, and Lobuche East.

Why are Mera, Island, and Lobuche included if TVT does not operate them?

They are common Nepal comparisons for Indian first-6000m researchers. The tool can explain when they fit, when they are training-dependent, and when a TVT-operated India peak is the better match.
